Audrey Hepburn's beauty was unconventional and completely unforgettable. It shaped twentieth-century fashion and still does. She was also a genuinely gifted dancer and actress - Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sabrina, My Fair Lady, all of them classics now.

What's less known: as a child in occupied Holland, she nearly starved. UN food aid kept her alive. Decades later, she became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and spent her final years in refugee camps and famine zones across Africa, Asia and South America, paying back, in person, the debt she always said she owed.
